When I was taken to Lanta Animal Welfare, I was emaciated and barely moving. They tell me I was also severely dehydrated and malnourished. It’s no wonder as I was plagued a mouthful of painful ulcers, and with no teeth, eating was just too difficult. I also had extensive skin scarring caused by horrific burns I suffered from when I was a kitten.
The medical team provided immediate life-saving care, and my treatments are continuing. My mouth needs to be cleaned daily with a saline solution to prevent infection and I can only eat wet food, as kibble cuts my gums.
And to top it all off, the vets also think I have a virus of some sort. But the tests to pinpoint the virus are very invasive and extremely expensive and they think I’ve suffered enough. Knowing the specific virus would likely not change my current treatments. They want to focus on keeping me comfortable and stable, and not put me through these tests.
They are right, I’ve suffered enough. I’m good with their decision.
